·        Employed by Kent County Council – not the police

 

·        Work in partnership with other agencies  

           Police, Fire & Rescue, Trading Standards, British Transport Police,

           Marden Parish Council, Kent County Council departments,  

           Maidstone Borough Council

 

·        Reassuring conspicuous presence

          People feel safer when seeing me walk around the village and can stop &       

          talk to me about any issues

 

·        Addressing anti-social behaviour

I try to stop people behaving inconsiderately by talking to them first and if that doesn’t work then pass it on to the relevant ‘partner’ to deal with

 

·        Give information & advice

- about all sorts of things eg potholes in the road or pavement

- clubs and societies that there are in the village and other things to do

- help to get a job

 

·        Eyes and Ears for other agencies

The agencies listed above and I would contact them

      -  if an elderly person needs help or is lonely

-      if young children aren’t being looked after very well

-      if animals or pets are being badly treated

-      to report fly tipping, abandoned cars, graffiti, vandalism, untaxed cars

                   etc

 

·        Promote Community Solidarity

& assist & enable communities to solve local problems:

-      eg when there was a dead badger in the school field

-      help to set up a youth club

-      help out at village events

-      visit schools, clubs & other organisations

-       if there is anything going on that everyone needs to know about, I can help to let everyone know
